Men’s Advice Line

Confidential Support for Male Victims of Domestic Abuse

Who It’s For: Men across the UK who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse, including those in heterosexual or same-sex relationships. Also open to trans and non-binary people who feel this is the right service for them, as well as concerned friends, family members and frontline workers supporting male victims.

What They Offer: Run by the charity Respect and funded by the Home Office, the Men’s Advice Line is a free, confidential helpline, webchat and email service offering non-judgmental emotional support, practical advice and information to male victims of domestic abuse. They also provide an online Information Hub — available 24 hours a day — to help men find local services, safe accommodation, and specialist support for related needs such as housing, mental health and immigration.

Support Includes:

  • Confidential phone, email and webchat support
  • Risk assessment and safety planning for men and their children
  • Information Hub — 24/7 self-service directory of local and national services
  • Signposting to refuges and safe accommodation for male victims
  • Support navigating child contact, financial and legal issues
  • Telephone interpreter service for those whose first language is not English
  • Relay UK access for those unable to hear or speak on the phone

Referral / Access: Self-referral. Call, email or use webchat — no appointment needed. Monday and Wednesday 9am–8pm; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am–5pm. Voicemail available outside hours; calls returned within two working days.

Why This Matters: Asking for help as a man experiencing domestic abuse can feel incredibly difficult — many men worry they won’t be believed, or feel pressure to handle things alone. The Men’s Advice Line advisors will listen, believe you and support you without judgement. Whether the abuse is physical, emotional, financial or controlling, you and your children deserve to be safe, and this service is here to help you work out your next steps.
